In a shocking incident, a Community Resource Person (CRP) of Kandagaradi Panchayat under Bhadrak’s Chandbali block was allegedly fired from the job and threatened with life for attending a rally of a political party other than the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

The victim has been identified as Mitanjali Samal, who alleged Chandbali block Mission Shakti President Jyotsnarani Ghadai has fired her from job and threatened her to kill because she attended a Congress rally.

As per the allegations, Mitanjali was threatened by Ghadai saying while BJD is ruling the State, she (Mitanjali) cannot attend political programmes of any other party.

"Jyotsnarani Ghadai has threatened to kill me alleging I have attended a political rally of Congress party. She also threatened me to feed my body to the crocodiles. Ghadai has also threatened to make my pictures, which I do not know of, viral,” alleged the complainant.

“Ghadai sent two of her men to my village who broke into my home and took away important documents. I cannot find my jewellery after they left my home as well," she added.

Speaking about the threats, Congress leader Purnima Nayak said, “Block president Jyotsnarani Ghadai has threatened to take Mitanjali’s life accusing her of attending a Congress rally. She has also damaged her property, and stolen jewellery by entering her house. Ghadai told her that she had kept some nude pictures of Mitanjali and she would make those pictures viral.”

Mitanjali has filed a police complaint in this regard at Chandbali police station with some recorded audio clips of Ghadai threatening her.

Neither Ghadai nor the police were available for comments in this connection.
