House in Bhubaneswar where Nagma was residing
Nagma Yusuf, a Pakistani woman residing in BJB Nagar locality of Bhubaneswar in Odisha, left the Capital City on Sunday following an official ‘leave India’ notice previously issued by local police, in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 tourists.
According to sources, Nagma’s request for an extended stay was denied due to previous incidents involving Pakistani nationals. She had been based in Bhubaneswar since 2008 after her marriage to Mohammed Nizam Uddin. However, she had not pursued Indian citizenship following her marriage.
The Pakistani woman left at around 10.30 AM, heading back to her country.
Worth mentioning, Nagma’s visa had expired in December 2024, after which she applied for a long-term stay. This request was declined amid increased security measures because of the recent terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir.
Recent government directives insist all Pakistani nationals to leave India amid heightened tensions following the terrorist attack. Commissionerate Police-Bhubaneswar had issued a formal notice to Nagma asking her to depart the city.
Reports suggest that at least 11 more Pakistani nationals have been residing in Odisha on long-term visas (LTVs). These individuals, who have been living in the State for extended periods, will soon be formally asked to leave the country.
In compliance with the Central Government directive, Odisha government has started the formal process to serve exit notices to the Pakistani citizens currently residing in different parts of the State.
Authorities are in the process of verifying the legal status, visa duration, and any pending applications for citizenship or asylum that the individuals may have submitted.
