Farmers in Odisha
The Odisha government has assured that farmers in the state will get money credited to their bank accounts within 48 hours of the procurement of their Kharif paddy.
To ensure that the farmers get the money within the set timeframe of 48 hours, the state government has reportedly appointed officials at several levels to oversee and monitor the entire process.
The state government on Friday instructed the officials to ensure that the registered farmers receive the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their Kharif paddy within 48 hours of its sale. The money will be credited directly to their bank accounts.
Adequate arrangements have also been made to address the grievances of the farmers and safeguard their interests. The Supplies department is ensuring the same.
A digital platform has been launched to facilitate these transactions and ensure accurate and timely disbursal of MSP through thorough instant verification of farmers' bank account details. Soon after all the documents are validated, the money will be credited to the beneficiaries’ accounts within 48 hours.
The Odisha government’s move to fast-track MSP disbursals comes close after the Union government’s recently announced price hikes for wheat and other mandated Rabi crops for the Marketing Season 2025-26.
While wheat saw an increase of Rs. 150 in its MSP from an earlier Rs. 2,275 to a new Rs. 2,425, Barley was hiked by Rs. 130. Meanwhile, other harvests like gram have risen by Rs. 210, masoor by Rs. 275, mustard by Rs. 300, and Safflower by Rs. 140.
