Completion of by-poll for the Padampur Assembly constituency has given rise to intense speculation among contesting parties and their stakeholders.

The fate of the candidates which is locked in EVM machines will be revealed on December 8, 2022. In the meantime, political parties have started speculations about who is going to be victorious and grab the democratic throne of the Padampur constituency.

Amidst multiple assumptions, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has claimed its candidate is going to win the seat by 10,000 votes. The state general secretary of BJP Prithiviraj Harichandan said, “The extra votes in the by-polls will go in the favour of the party, and help it in winning the election.”

Meanwhile, the vice-president of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Debiprasad Mishra said, “After CM Naveen Patnaik’s campaign in the constituency, the vote count has increased and the results will go in favour of the BJD. The increase in the vote percentage is an indication of people’s support for the young candidate Barsha Singh Bariha and people’s love for CM’s developmental works.”

On other hand, senior Congress leader and MLA Suresh Routray slammed both the parties and said, “BJD will win the elections claiming the number one position followed by BJP, and the Congress party will come in the third.”

The leader further added, “The BJD has spent a whopping Rs 40 crore in the election, followed by BJP which has spent its half. Whereas, the Congress party has spent around Rs 30-40 lakh in the elections, which is comparatively nothing compared to the spend by the ruling parties.”
