More than eight second-year MBBS students of Saheed Laxman Nayak (SLN) Medical College and Hospital in Koraput fell sick reportedly after having dinner at the hostel canteen on Friday night.

As per reports, the students complained of uneasiness and vomiting soon after having dinner at around 10pm. Sources said, all the admitted students had dinner at the hostel canteen. After they fell sick, seniors and the hostel warden rushed them to the emergency ward for treatment.

While the symptoms indicate towards food poisoning, the medical authorities were tight-lipped about the incident.

The health condition of all the students is currently stable and they have been discharged from the emergency ward, sources said.

Earlier, as many as thirty-four students of a government-run girls’ high school hostel in Koida block of Sundargarh district fell sick due to food poisoning and dehydration in April this year. All the students were discharged from the hospital following necessary treatment.
