Over 60 kg ganja seized from 3 luxury cars in Bhubaneswar, 4 held  

Acting on a tip-off, the Commissionerate Police on Sunday seized over 60 kilograms of marijuana, seized three cars used in the crime and arrested four smugglers. 

As per reports, acting on a tip-off from a reliable source, Chandaka police raided an area close to Pitapalli Road on Sunday. During the raid, police intercepted three luxury cars. On searching the vehicles, they seized 66.8 kg of ganja and arrested Bhima Madhab Dalei of Khorda Town, Babul Kumar Das of Banapur, Manoranjan Rout of Chandbali in Bhadrak and Khirod Kumar Sahoo of Salepur.

Police also seized six phones from their possession. According to police, two cases are pending against Babul at Tamando and Capital police stations while a case under the NDPS Act is pending against Manoranjan at Baliguda police station in Kandhamal.

Briefing the media, Ramesh Bisoi, Zone 6 ACP said, “On physical verification of their vehicles, the banned substance was found hidden under the rear seats of these cars. Then, the four were arrested. We seized 23 kg ganja from a Hyundai car, 21.6 kg from Tata Zest and 22.2 kg from a Swift car. In total, we seized 66.8 kg of the banned substance. All the four arrested are professional ganja smugglers.”
