Over 6.5 lakh pucca houses granted to Odisha returned

Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik informed the Odisha Assembly that 6,56,945 pucca houses granted by the Union government between 2016-2024 have been returned due to the previous BJD government's failure to provide a list of eligible beneficiaries. The Union government has granted 42,18,364 houses in total, with 36,57,847 completed and 5,27,604 under construction.

A total of 6,56, 945 pucca houses granted to Odisha by the Union government between 2016-2024 have returned, informed Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik on Tuesday.

While responding to a question from MLA Manas Dutta, Naik told this in the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday.

According to Naik, the granted houses have returned as the previous BJD government didn’t provide the list of the eligible beneficiaries.

“The Union government has so far granted a total of 42, 18, 364 houses to Odisha. As many as 36, 57, 847 houses have been completed from 2014 till date,” said the Minister.

“While 5,27,604 houses are under construction, construction of  32, 913 granted houses has not started yet. As many as 1,26, 719 families have applied for the houses,” he added.
