The CPI (Maoist) has given a bandh call in Odisha including five states on April 15 alleging encounters and fake killings of their members by security forces across the country.

The 'madhya region bureau, central committee' of the banned organisation has urged people of Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh to extend support and observe bandh on April 15.

In a release, the Maoist organisation claimed that over 5000 ultras have been killed by security forces in the last two decades across the country. They further claimed that around 50 Maoists have been killed since January 2024.

As per the release of the CPI (Maoists), as many as 22 members of the organisation have been killed in the last 15 days- 3 in Pujari Kanker, 6 in Chipurbatti and 13 in Korcheli.

Jan 23, 2024: An encounter between security forces and Maoist ultras took place in Nalikumpa jungle bordering Boudh and Kandhamal districts in Odisha. While a Maoist camp was destroyed by the police after the gunfight, the security forces also seized a huge cache of arms and explosives including land mines from the camp.

Feb 6, 2024: Citing sexual exploitation of women in Maoist camp, two women Maoists surrendered before IGP Southern Range, Berhampur at Boudh district. Out of the two women Maoists, one was a member of the eighth company and another was a party member of Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division of the CPI (Maoist).

Feb 9, 2024: An exchange of fire was reported between Maoists and security forces inside the dense forests of Sunabeda Sanctuary near Barkote Ghat in Odisha’s Nuapada district. The exchange of fire occurred while the personnel of the Special Operation Group (SOG) were carrying out a combing operation in the area.

Feb 15, 2024: Several jawans of the Special Operations Group (SOG) sustained injuries in an IED explosion during a search operation at Nalikumpa jungle under Boudh’s Kantamal police limits on Thursday. The IED was reportedly planted by Maoists.

Feb 23, 2024: Maoists made their presence felt in Paikmal jungle under Bargarh district when they fired at the security forces. The security forces were undertaking a combing operation in the Paikmal jungle when the Maoists fired shots at them ensuing a gun battle.

Mar 9, 2024: Maoists unleashed terror by killing a couple, suspecting them to be police informers. The shocking incident was reported from Gidapadar village in Kandhamal district.

April 8, 2024: A team of police personnel and CRPF CoBRA jawans arrested as many as six dreaded Maoists from Chhattisgarh's Sukma area, neighbouring Odisha’s Malkangiri district. The security forces also seized a huge arms haul.
