Over 3000 Odisha villages lack mobile network: complete coverage by 2024 end, says Minister in Assembly

The MLA further asked about the number of villages in Koraput that are deprived of mobile network coverage. In his reply, the minister informed the House that as per the data shared by the Centre, 3510 villages in Odisha lack mobile networks.

Around 3, 510 villages in Odisha are deprived of mobile network coverage. However, all the villages will have mobile network coverage by 2024 end, informed Electronics & Information Technology Minister, Mukesh Mahaling.

The minister shared this information while replying to a question raised by Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati. In his question, the Congress MLA wanted to know about the number of villages that lacked mobile networks when the government claimed that 5G services rollout had started in the state.

The MLA further asked about the number of villages in Koraput that are deprived of mobile network coverage. In his reply, the minister informed the House that as per the data shared by the Centre, 3510 villages in Odisha lack mobile networks.

1062 villages in Koraput district lack mobile networks. The Centre’s concerned department has set a target to make functional mobile towers to provide the network to all villages by 2024 end, the minister added.
