Over 1.42 lakh cases pending in Orissa High Court; more than 55,000 disposed of in last 5 years

As many as 1,42, 858 cases are pending in the Orissa High Court, informed Odisha Law Minister in Odisha Assembly on Saturday. The Minister's response was to a question raised in the House by Cuttack-Choudwar MLA Souvik Biswal.

The BJD lawmaker wanted to know about the total pendency of cases in Orissa High Court, disposal of cases in last five years and the steps taken to speed up process.

In his reply, the Law Minister informed that 55,203 cases have been disposed of in the last five years. Similarly, the High Court has taken adequate steps to speed up the process to complete the trials and dispose old cases in the state.

Similarly, the number of judges will also be increased in the state, said the minister.
