Berhampur University students receive 3rd Arindam Das Memorial Scholarship
As many as three Journalism and Mass Communication students of the Berhampur University received the third Arindam Das Memorial Scholarship in a programme held at the head office of Odisha Television Network (OTV) in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The award has been instituted by the Odisha Television Network in memory of OTV journalist Arindam Das, who lost his life while covering the rescue operation of an elephant stuck in the Mahanadi River at Mundali Barrage.
The students who bagged the prestigious Arindam Das Memorial Scholarship are Ladli Das, Sayani Karmakar and Biswajit Nahak.
OTV Business Head Litisha Mangat Panda, OTV Executive Editor Radhamadhab Mishra, OTV HR and Operations Head Lt. Col CK Jena and other employees were present on the occasion.
Earlier, all the employees of OTV offered floral tributes to Arindam Das.
OTV Cares has been giving away this scholarship to meritorious and economically poor students of Journalism and Mass Communication for the last three years.
The third death anniversary of Arindam Das falls on September 24, 2024. Three years have passed since Das lost his life while covering the rescue operation of an elephant stuck in the Mahanadi River at Mundali Barrage.
“I am very grateful to receive the prestigious scholarship. I would thank OTV cares, Jagi Ma'am, our HOD and all the faculties who have supported us,” said a student who received the scholarship.
“I am so happy that three students from our department got the prestigious scholarship. I thank OTV Cares, our HOD and all the faculties for this achievement,” said another student.
“Our MD Jagi Mangat Panda launched the scholarship to support students in journalism or students who are passionate about what they want to do just like how Arindam was passionate about what he wanted to do. We are hopeful that we will meet Arindam again in this lifetime in another student through this scholarship,” said Odisha Television Network's Business Head, Litisha Mangat Panda.
