While the entire world is celebrating International Women's Day recognising the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, OTV, the leading media house in Odisha, celebrated the special day with its women colleagues at its head office in Bhubaneswar.

Celebrating womanhood on the special day, women journalists, and staff of OTV cut cakes and danced to the tune of music. Gifts were distributed among them.

International Women’s Day falls on March 8 annually. The special day champions cultural, political and socioeconomic women-made achievements in various fields. Women’s Day also marks a call for a gender-equal world that is free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination and is diverse, equitable, and inclusive while differences are valued and celebrated.

Sharing about her feelings on the celebration of International Women’s Day at OTV office, senior women journalist Babita Swain said, “I am so happy that we are celebrating the special day at OTV office. Journalists are generally busy people. However, International Women’s Day gave us an opportunity to be congregated and celebrate together.”

“Our theme is white and orange this year and that is why most of us are wearing dresses of those colours. Women should not be confined within the four walls of a house. They should be given ample freedom to explore the world on their own ways,” said another senior women journalist.

As per another senior journalist, “It’s not just International Women’s Day, each and every day belongs to a woman. Without women, our family and society could not sustain.”

People celebrate International Women’s Day 2023 by making the women in their lives feel special with heartwarming gestures.
