Continuing with its legacy of extending help to the needy, OTV Cares on Monday started the first phase counselling of selected candidates for the data entry course.

This is part of the ongoing initiative by OTV Cares to extend assistance through a unique initiative by offering sewing and designing, beautician, home nursing, data entry, and other vocational training to the needy so that they become self-reliant.

OTV Cares had earlier invited applications from women applicants and the last date to enroll for the free sewing and designing, beautician, home nursing, data entry, and other vocational training was February 15.

“I learned about the initiative at the last moment and got a message seeking my interest and other documents. I had an interest in computers and after filling up the form, I was selected on my birthday. I was returning home after doing my job when I got the news,” said Anushree Barik, a candidate.

Purnima Das, a candidate from Jagatsinghpur said, “I am lucky that I was selected as my father’s financial condition is not good.”

The applicants, mostly from a poor financial background and those, who lost their parent/s, have been given priority. OTV Cares will bear all expenses including admission, course fee, and hostel fee.

The Director of Human Life Centre, Fr Jerome Sequeira along with OTV MD, Jagi Mangat Panda and members of the CSR team were present on the opening day of the counselling session.

During the interaction, the candidates were explained about the course, organization, and motto of the CSR project. The data entry course will start on May 1, 2023.

The only qualification required is that one should have completed matriculation and should be from a poor financial background. The minimum age limit is 18 years.

The noble initiative by OTV was first launched during the COVID pandemic. Under this drive, the premier electronic media house distributed free food for Covid patients in several parts of the State.

In continuation of the initiative, OTV Cares had distributed relief kits in several flood-affected areas of the State in August 2022.
