Odisha, OTV Cares on Thursday presented a cheque of Rs 10,00,000 to the Principal of Khordha Women’s College
In a landmark step towards promoting women's empowerment and sports infrastructure in Odisha, OTV Cares on Thursday presented a cheque of Rs 10,00,000 to the Principal of Khordha Women’s College for the development of the institutes's sports ground.
The cheque was formally handed over in a session attended by the Principal of Khordha Women’s College, Pushpanjali Srichandan, and Kabita Kumari Swain, along with representatives of OTV Cares.
Established in 1981, Khordha Women’s College has consistently made its mark in academics and sports. However, despite its achievements, the college's sports ground had remained neglected for decades. Currently, around 40% of the ground is overrun with trees and bushes, severely limiting its use for training and sports events.
Students of the college have achieved national-level recognition in various sports disciplines, but the lack of a well-developed ground has posed a significant hurdle in their preparation and practice.
The donation is part of OTV Cares' ongoing mission to empower women and uplift community infrastructure, with a special focus on education and sports. The initiative highlights OTV's commitment to creating inclusive spaces for young women to excel in extracurricular domains such as sports—an area critical for holistic development.
Speaking on the occasion, the attendees acknowledged the vision of OTV Cares in identifying and supporting causes that directly impact young women’s lives and future prospects.
With this financial support, the college can now proceed with clearing the encroachments, leveling the ground, and developing essential sports facilities, which will enable it to become a hub for budding athletes once again.
The event marks not just a financial contribution but a symbol of renewed hope, opportunity, and empowerment for hundreds of students who now look forward to improved training facilities and a level playing field.
