In a blow to the Odisha government’s plan to recruit Police Sub-Inspectors, the Orissa High Court on Friday passed an interim stay order on the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) advertisement issued in 2021.

The Court passed the order hearing a petition against Odisha government’s notice issued on January 15, 2022 barring government job applicants from availing the age relaxation.

Apart from that, the Court also issued a notice to the State government asking why the recruitment notice should not be quashed.

Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) had invited applications for 474 Sub-Inspector posts in 2021. Though many aspirants had applied for the job, the recruitment process could not make any progress for next two years due to the Covid restrictions.

The court has scheduled March 9 as the next date for a hearing in this matter.
