Launching a broadside against the ruling BJD over its alleged links in tax evasion and fake educational certificate racket, the Opposition BJP and Congress accused Naveen Patnaik-led government of having involvement in all scams in the State.

Coming down heavily on the government, the BJP said, the conch party has done a Ph.D. in making Odisha a breeding ground for all criminal activities.

“If we connect the dots of any racket, it will ultimately lead to a BJD leader. The BJD has Ph.D. in misleading people, making Odisha a breeding ground for criminals. From ground-level to top-level workers, the BJD leaders are entangled in various scams,” Odisha BJP general secretary, Prithviraj Harichandan said.

Similarly, Congress also targeted the BJD alleging its involvement in tax evasion, education, and job irregularities.

“As per reports, the fake certificates were sold at Rs 5 lakh. A former minister and senior BJD leader who is also Bolangir in-charge has visited the house of the prime accused of the racket and clicked photos with him. Even I have received a photograph in which the accused has posed with the Minister of State (Home),” senior Congress leader and MLA, Narasingha Mishra said.

Commenting on allegations levelled by the Opposition, the ruling BJD said the central agencies are being misused.

“May it be BJD, BJP, or someone else, those who are evaders they should be punished as per the law. It is alleged that the central agencies are being misused. Action has been taken against the persons involved in the fake certificate scam,” said BJD vice president, Debi Prasad Mishra.
