In a bizarre incident, a class 10 girl student from Khirakona under Balasore’s Simulia block took the answer sheet with her after writing the matric examination which concluded recently.

The student has been identified as Rani Malik who studies at Upendranath High School in Khirakona. She appeared for her class-10 matric examination this year at her examination centre in Damodar High School in Jamujhadi.

As per reports, after the completion of Mathematics examination, Rani allegedly took her answer sheet home without informing the invigilators.

The matter came to the fore during evaluation of the answer sheets, when the evaluators found her in attendance but could not find her answer sheet.

“I finished my maths paper before the stipulated time. The invigilator asked me to keep both the OMR sheet and the answer copy on the desk beside me. But when the invigilator collected the answer copies, they picked up the OMR sheet only and forgot to collect the answer sheet,” narrated Rani.

teachers came after 15-20 days and asked me to hand over the answer sheet if I have it. I gave them the sheet after which they left behind,” she said.

Asked about the incident, Bishnu Charan Sutar, Balasore DEO, said, “I enquired about the incident and found that a mathematics answer sheet was missing from the Damodar High School in Jamujhadi. Later the school authorities recovered the answer copy with the help of Board of Secondary Education (BSE) authorities.”

“While the centre superintendent is denying any such incident happening in the school, later on, we came to know that the missing copy was recovered with the help of the Board authorities. We will visit the school to review the situation and enquire more. Then we will communicate the findings to the higher-ups in the department for them to take appropriate disciplinary action if needed,” said Sutar.
