As the Odisha government completes its first year in office, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday shared a detailed report card outlining the state’s achievements over the past 12 months.

Addressing the media in Bhubanewar, the Chief Minister emphasized that his government has focused on fulfilling the promises made in the Sankalp Patra (election manifesto), working steadfastly under the guidance and vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“We have not just governed, we have fulfilled the hopes of the people. Whatever we promised, we have delivered,” said the CM.

CM Majhi also expressed deep gratitude towards the Prime Minister, stating that PM Modi’s affection for Odisha continues to energize and motivate the state government.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Odisha again on June 20, further strengthening the Centre-State coordination, he said.

Key Decisions Taken on Day One

The Chief Minister recalled that on June 12 last year, the state cabinet had taken four landmark decisions, setting the tone for people-centric governance:

Opening all four gates of the Puri Jagannath Temple, restoring traditional access for devotees

Launching the Subhadra Yojana for women's empowerment

Establishing a Rs 500 crore corpus fund for the development of the Jagannath Temples

Announcing and fulfilling a Rs 800 bonus per quintal for paddy farmers

Transformative Steps in Agriculture and Women Empowerment

Highlighting agricultural reforms, CM Mohan Majhi noted that the Odisha government has made a record allocation of Rs 37,800 crore under the Samruddha Krushi Yojana, making it the largest agriculture budget in the state’s history.

This has directly benefited lakhs of farmers across Odisha. Moreover, nearly 17 lakh “Lakhpati Didis” have been empowered through targeted women-centric schemes, fulfilling the government’s vision of self-reliant rural households, the CM said.

Revolutionary Reforms in Education

The Chief Minister stressed that education has been a major focus area of the BJP government in Odisha.

"In the previous government, there were no proper infrastructure and education was neglected. In the name of 5T transformation, schools were only painted. But there was no feeder school and I personally had highlighted this when in opposition. The previous government had not listened to this. But when the government changed and when I got a chance, I focused on primary education. We started initiative to started Godavarish Mishra Adarsh Vidyalya in each panchayats. The NEP was also implemented by our government along with adopting Sishu Vatika," informed CM Mohan Majhi, adding that adequate budgetary provision has been made by the new government.

The Chief Minister believed that people will now opt for government schools instead of private schools. He said that Shishu Vatika (early childhood education) has been rolled out, and the state plans to develop Adarsha Vidyalayas (model schools) to offer quality education.

Implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) is underway, promising revolutionary changes in teaching and learning.

“We are committed to bringing children back to government schools and we will ensure that these schools become centers of excellence," the CM said.

The Road Ahead

The Chief Minister concluded by reiterating the Odisha government’s commitment to building a prosperous, self-reliant, and empowered Odisha, stating that the momentum of development will continue in the years to come, with inclusive growth, social justice, and transparency as its cornerstones.

As Odisha enters its second year under the new government, citizens look forward to the continued realization of promises made—and hopes kindled—under a government that pledges to be truly “of the people, by the people, for the people.”
