“Our focus is on procurement of milk from farmers and upgrading OMFED with the installation of CCTVs in the plant. Several other issues and aspects were also discussed at length,” said Mallik.
The Minister further informed that the Shree Jagannath Temple Trust has written for procuring OMFED ghee. At present, there is a requirement of 4 tons of ghee at Srimandir and the production at one of OMFED units is around 8 tons per day. The state government has decided to supply ghee to Srimandir at a subsidised rate.
The government has written to district Collectors to use OMFED ghee for daily affairs and other requirements at religious institutions.
“You will see that the OMFED will benefit the people through employment by strengthening the company. Three new dairy plants- Sambalpur, Ganjam and Balasore are in the pipeline and DPR is being prepared,” the Minister added.
Meanwhile, OMFED has managed to collect around Rs 82 lakh from the total arrears amounting to Rs 2 crore. Action will be taken against the defaulters if they fail to repay within seven days, the Minister added.
