Government of India-owned Public Sector Unit (PSU), Oil India Limited is all set to explore oil and natural gas deposits at Marshaghai in Kendrapara.

The PSU has already started the land leasing process in the identified area. It will continue for two more days.

“We have received satisfactory compensation from Oil India and people are supporting the oil exploration too. They have taken eight acres of land nearby to explore oil and natural gas,” a local said.

Speaking to OTV, Anjan Jyoti Fukan, Executive Director of Oil India Limited said, “Following a seismic survey, we found hints of hydrocarbon underneath this area. So we have come here to explore oil by taking the land on lease for three years.”

Marshaghai Tehsildar, Bhanumati Majhi said, “The agreement process to take the land on lease has started. Agreements are being signed by landowners. A total of 14 land owners have signed agreements to give their land on lease for three years to Oil India for exploration.”

Oil India has already commenced drilling for oil and natural gas at Kusupur village under Puri’s Gop block.
