Odisha Youth Congress protests against rising crime in the state

Members of the Odisha Youth Congress staged a dramatic protest outside Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s residence on Wednesday, expressing anger over the rising incidents of violence against women in the state.

The demonstration quickly escalated as the protesters hurled eggs and tomatoes at the premises and attempted to breach the security gates. The situation turned tense when police forces deployed at the site intervened to prevent further escalation, resulting in heated scuffles between the demonstrators and law enforcement personnel.

The protest is part of the Youth Congress’s state-wide campaign demanding stronger action and accountability from the government on gender-based violence. Leaders of the outfit have accused the administration of failing to ensure the safety of women and ignoring repeated calls for justice.

Youth Congress workers reiterated that such demonstrations will continue across Odisha until concrete measures are taken to curb crimes against women.

No injuries were reported during the protest, although several activists were briefly detained for disrupting public order.
