Odisha woman gifts ‘jalebi’ to lady police officer for recovering her looted pension money
In a heart-wrenching tale in today’s times of despair, an elderly woman from Odisha displayed immense innocence with her kind gesture for a lady cop in Sambalpur. Elated with the swift action of the lady police officer, the elderly woman as a thank you gesture, gifted her kilos of ‘jalebis’.
The elderly woman’s heart-touching act has proved that innocence still prevails in this digital age too. The elderly woman has been identified as Subalaya Barik.
According to sources, Subalaya had borrowed money for her granddaughter’s marriage. To repay the loan, she withdrew Rs 50,500 from her saved pension money from a bank. She was on her way to pay back the loan when two bikers waylaid her on the pretext of dropping her to her destination. However, the two dropped her in the wrong location and fled away with her money bag.
Based on the elderly woman’s complaint, Sambalpur Sadar Police accessed CCTV cameras and arrested the two accused within eight hours. The elderly woman’s money was also recovered and handed it back to her.
Super elated with the swift action of the police, the kind-hearted woman went to the police station with kilos of ‘jalebis’ and gifted it to the cops, especially to a lady police officer whom she called a tigress.
“They told me that they would drop me in Dhanupali and asked me Rs 50. However, I told them I would give them Rs 200 for their breakfast and other expenses. However, mid-way the two snatched my money bag and sped away,” Subalaya Barik said.
“I’m very happy. The woman inspector was like a tigress and snatched my money from the thieves very bravely. She is not a human, she is a tigress. I had borrowed money to get my granddaughter married. So, I was taking my pension money to repay the loan. Now with the help of police I got my money back and repaid the loan,” said an elated Subalaya.
When contacted, Sambalpur Sadar SDPO Tofan Bag said, “We followed the CCTV footage and arrested the two accused Siba Bag and Jitendra Bag. Police cracked the case within eight hours. We have recovered the whole amount from the accused duo and handed it back to the elderly woman.”
