A pall of gloom descended on a village in Odisha after their son, an IRB jawan, was killed in an accident in Tamil Nadu. The mortal remains of IRB jawan, Pramod Majhi reached Odisha on Tuesday.

The deceased jawan, a resident of Dharmabandha village in Nuapada district, joined IRB in 2009. He was on election duty. While discharging his duty, he reportedly met with an accident and lost his life.

His mortal remains were flown from Tamil Nadu to Odisha’s Biju Patnaik International Airport. From there the mortal remains were taken to the IRB battalion. After the last tributes were paid, the hearse proceeded towards Dharmabandha village.

As per reports, the jawan is survived by his elderly parents, wife, and son.

The entire village has gone into mourning since the news broke.

“He (deceased jawan) was very cordial. He was a stickler for discipline. While discharging his duty in Tamil Nadu, he died. We feel proud of him,” remembered a fellow jawan.
