Odisha Vigilance seizes Rs 5 lakh cash from BDO's vehicle

Vigilance sleuths detained Golamunda Block Development Officer (BDO) Akshyamita Kartik in Kalahandi district after unaccounted cash of around Rs 5 lakh was recovered from her vehicle on Thursday.

Apart from Akshyamita, the vigilance officials also detained other employees of her office. They were questioned about the seized money at the Bhawanipatna Vigilance office.

As per reports, Akshyamita and other officials of Golamunda block went to attend a review meeting of all the blocks of the district at the DRDO conference hall in Kalahandi today. While they were returning after attending the meeting in the evening, a team of Vigilance officials from Kalahandi and Jeypore intercepted their vehicle near Jaring under Junagarh police station along National Highway 26 and seized the cash.

Following the seizure of the cash, Akshyamita and other officials were detained and questioned at the Bhawanipatna Vigilance office.

As per sources, Vigilance sleuths took action on the basis of the poor track record of Akshyamita and several allegations against her.
