Odisha Vigilance seizes Rs 2.1 crore cash from chief engineer’s residences
Odisha Vigilance officials on Friday unearthed cash worth over Rs 2 crore from the residences of a government officer during raids in Bhubaneswar and Angul, respectively. The huge amount of cash was seized from the residence of Baikuntha Nath Sarangi, Chief Engineer, RW Department, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Shockingly, Sarangi threw cash bundles of Rs 500 notes through the window from his flat after seeing the Vigilance officials. However, the thrown-away cash was later recovered in the presence of witnesses by the search team of Vigilance.
The Vigilance is conducting raids on Baikuntha Nath Sarangi, Chief Engineer, Plan Roads, RW Division, Odisha, Bhubaneswar, on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets( DA) beyond his known sources of income.
Simultaneous house searches are being conducted by Odisha Vigilance, led by eight DSPs, 12 Inspectors, six ASIs, and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Angul at his following 7 places in Angul, Bhubaneswar, Pipili (Puri).
The raids are on at below places
1. Double-storeyed residential house at Karadagadia, Angul.
2. Flat No. C-102 in PDN Exonce in Dumduma, Bhubaneswar.
3. Flat at Siula, PS-Pipili, Dist-Puri.
4. House of his relative at Sikshyakapada, PS/Dist-Angul.
5. His Paternal house at Vill-Lokeipasi, Tahasil/Dist-Angul.
6. Double-storeyed paternal building at Matiasahi, PS/Dist-Angul.
7. Office chamber located at the Chief Engineer, RD planning and Road, Bhubaneswar.
