Odisha Vigilance raids Motor Vehicle Inspector's property over DA allegations in Boudh and Bhubaneswar

Odisha Vigilance launched simultaneous raids at six locations linked to Golap Chandra Hansdah, Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI), Boudh on Sunday, in connection with allegations of possession of disproportionate assets (DA) beyond his known sources of income.

Acting on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada, multiple teams led by four DSPs, seven Inspectors, and other supporting personnel conducted the coordinated searches across Baripada, Boudh, and Bhubaneswar.

The locations under search include:

• Hansdah’s residential house at Prafulla Nagar, Baripada, Mayurbhanj
• His rented house in Boudh
• His office chamber at the RTO Office, Boudh
• His paternal home in Gudidiha village under Khunta PS, Mayurbhanj 
• A rented flat of his daughter at Pandara, Bhubaneswar
• The house of a close associate at Baghdiha, Ward No. 28, Baripada

Sources said the Vigilance teams are scanning property documents, bank accounts, investment records, and other valuables to assess the extent of assets allegedly amassed unlawfully. 

Electronic devices and personal records are also being examined during the operation.

The searches were still underway at the time of reporting. A detailed assessment and official statement from the Vigilance Directorate are expected following completion of the proceedings.

This action comes as part of the Odisha government’s ongoing crackdown on corruption and unaccounted wealth among public servants.

Properties recovered so far:

• During house searches so far, the following assets have been unearthed in the name of Sri Hansdah and his family members;
• One double storeyed  building with area approx 3300 sqft over Plot No.457, Khata No.205/730 located at Prafulla Nagar, Baripada, Dist-Mayurbhanj.
• 44 high value plots including 35 plots in and around Baripada town and1plot in Sribantpur, Balasore town. 
• The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above building/ plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing. 
• Cash of Rs.2,38,725/-. 
• Bank and Postal deposits Rs.56 lakhs and other deposits & investments are being ascertained. 
• Gold jewellery approx 250 gms & silver ornament 400 gms.
• Rs. 40 lakhs spent on medical education of his daughter. 
• 1 four wheeler (Hyundai Creta) & 3 two wheelers.
