Odisha Vigilance nabs section officer for Rs 6,000 bribe from colleague towards EV advance
Acting on a tip-off, Odisha Vigilance on Thursday apprehended another government officer while accepting a bribe of Rs 6000 from a person at Rench under Nimapara block. The accused officer has been Manoj Mohanty, section officer, at the office of SDVO (Sub-Divisional Veterinary Officer), Puri.
Mohanty was taking the bribe for processing the withdrawal of EV (Electric Vehicle) advance in respect of the complainant and three others, the Vigilance report said.
“Sri Manoj Mohanty, Section Officer, office of SDVO ( Sub Divisional Veterinary Officer), Puri has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe amount of Rs. 6,000/- from a staffer (Complainant) of Rench, Nimapara Block under jurisdiction of SDVO for processing drawl of EV (Electric Vehicle) advance in respect of complainant and three others. As the requisite amount had already been sanctioned in favour of the staffers by the Govt, but Sri Mohanty was delaying the process of drawl and was demanding a bribe of Rs. 6,000/- for the drawl of the sanctioned amount. Left with no other option, the complainant reported the matter to Vigilance authorities, following which Vigilance Sleuths nabbed Sri Mohanty today, while taking a bribe of Rs 6000/- from the complainant,” the report stated.
The entire trap money of Rs 6,000 was recovered from the possession of Mohanty and seized. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Mohanty, from the DA angle.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 10/2025, U/s 7 of PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against Mohanty while an investigation was also launched in this connection.
