Odisha Vigilance catches food safety officer while accepting bribe in Kendrapara

Vigilance sleuths apprehended Bibhas Majumdar, a food safety officer, while allegedly accepting a Rs 5000 bribe near a hotel along Cuttack-Chandbali road in Kendrapara district. The entire bribe money was recovered and further investigation is underway.

Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday apprehended Bibhas Majumdar, a food safety officer, while he was allegedly accepting bribe near a hotel located along Cuttack-Chandbali road in Kendrapara district.

According to sources, Majumdar was allegedly caught red-handed by the officials of the anti-corruption wing while he was accepting Rs 5000 bribe to facilitate a license.

The entire bribe money has been recovered from Majhumdar, sources informed, adding that further investigation into the matter is on. 

Following the seizure of the cash, separate teams of the Vigilance conducted simultaneous raids at Majumdar's rented house and parental house.
