The ASI and Home Guard in the Vigilance net
An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a Home Guard from the Bankoi police outpost in Khordha district were caught red-handed by Vigilance officials while they were accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 on Friday.
According to sources, ASI Tushar Nayak and Home Guard PK Sundaray were allegedly demanding money from a local resident in exchange for removing his name from a case diary. The bribe was demanded to tamper with official records and shield the individual from potential legal consequences.
The Odisha Vigilance Department had laid a carefully planned trap after receiving a complaint from the aggrieved individual.
As the bribe amount was being exchanged, Vigilance officers swooped in and caught the two accused red-handed. The sting operation took place under the jurisdiction of the Bankoi police outpost.
Following their arrest, the Vigilance team also conducted a thorough raid at ASI Tushar Nayak’s residence in Bankoi. Officials confirmed that relevant documents and other evidence were seized during the house search.

Ironically, ASI Tushar Nayak had earlier been felicitated by the district police for his ‘notable service' at the Bankoi outpost. As of the last reports, both the ASI and the Home Guard are now under investigation, and further legal proceedings are underway.
