Lashing out at the Odisha government, senior Congress leader and Kantabanji MLA, Santosh Singh Saluja on Thursday said that Odisha is under Hitler’s rule.

His statement came on the heels of Minister Naba Das’ murder and the subsequent alleged failure of the Crime Branch to ascertain the exact motive behind the killing.

Speaking to reporters, Saluja said, “It has been a tendency with this BJD government that anybody who speaks against them, the government becomes vindictive and frames them or their family in false charges in order to shut their mouth.”

“The government raids their homes, reopens old closed cases and charges them with serious offences so that they remain in jail for months,” he added.

“This government knows that they are not going to get the power anymore because the voters have rejected them. That is why they have started resorting to Hitler-like rule in the State. However, this will never be tolerated by the people of Odisha,” Saluja said.

The BJD however, accused the BJP of creating a law and order situation in the State. “The law and order situation is ok in Odisha. If it has deteriorated, it is because of the BJP and their violence. So if they have dug up a hole, they must fill it,” said ruling BJD’s Soumya Ranjan Patnaik.

It is pertinent to mention here that Saluja's son Seji Singh was arrested in connection with a fight at a cinema hall in Kantabanji on February 2, 2023.

Seji was booked under Sections 384, 506, 353 of IPC and relevant Sections of the Arms Act.

He was arrested after an alleged fight at a cinema hall in Kantabanji of Bolangir district. He allegedly pointed a gun and tried to spread terror while the cops tried to pacify him. The purported video of the whole incident had gone viral on social media.
