Odisha UG, PG first-year classes to begin on July 10; full admission timeline released
The State Higher Education Department on Wednesday announced that classes for first-year undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students across universities and colleges in Odisha will commence on July 10, 2025.
The announcement comes as part of the department’s detailed admission schedule for the upcoming academic session.
Admissions for UG courses will be conducted in multiple phases through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal.
First Round Allotment: Provisional seat allotment will be declared on June 12, with admissions scheduled from June 13 to 17.
Second Round: Allotment results will be published on June 22, and candidates can secure admission between June 23 and 25.
Third Round: Results on July 1, followed by admissions from July 2 to 4.
A final list of selected and waitlisted candidates will be announced on July 13, with admission for this group on July 14.
The department has also confirmed that a second phase of UG admissions will begin after the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) publishes results for the instant/supplementary Plus II exams, expected later in July.

The PG admission cycle closely mirrors the UG timeline, with three main allotment rounds:
Round 1: Allotment on June 13, admissions from June 16 to 18.
Round 2: Allotment list on June 23, with admissions between June 24 and 26.
Round 3: Results will be declared on July 3, and admissions will take place from July 4 to 8.
The final list for selected and waitlisted PG applicants will be issued on July 22, with final admissions concluding by July 25.
Earlier, on May 24, the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE), Odisha, began the e-Admission process for Class XI (Plus 2) admissions for Arts, Science, Commerce, Upashastri, and Vocational streams. Over 4.84 lakh matric-pass students are eligible to apply via the SAMS portal, with June 30 being the last date for application.
Meanwhile, the first merit list for Plus II admissions is expected on July 7, and classes will begin from July 24, unless further updates or revisions to the schedule are made by the DHE.
All applications and allotments are handled via www.samsodisha.gov.in, the centralised admission portal.
