Odisha tribal woman moves from pillar to post to get back her twins

Geeta Sabar, a tribal woman from Tulsinagar in Bolangir town, is struggling to regain custody of her four-year-old twins, currently under the District Child Protection Unit. Despite promises to return her children within three months, officials are now allegedly demanding Aadhaar card and other documents for proof of maternity. Geeta's fight continues as she faces bureaucratic hurdles.

Geeta Sabar is on a mission. The tribal woman has been fighting the system alone to get back her twins. She has been running from pillar to post to rescue her twins, a boy and a girl, who are under the District Child Protection Unit.

However, no one is allegedly extending a helping hand to Geeta. A resident of Tulsinagar in Bolangir town, who is living in a thatched hut made of polythene sheet. Left by her husband, Geeta used to live with her four-year-old twins, a boy and a girl.

Worried about their future and better living condition, Geeta left them to the care of the District Child Protection Unit. However, the officials have now allegedly refrained her from meeting her children.

Although, promised to hand her twins back in three months, Geeta alleged that she was being asked for documents to prove her maternity for her own kids.

“I was going through hard times and was not able to fend my twins. So, I had to give them away to then Child Protection Unit. Now, I want my kids back, but they are unnecessarily harassing me by asking me for Aadhaar card and other documents. They are questioning if I’m their real mother. As I don’t have anyone, both my parents have passed away, no one is there for me,” the woman alleged.
