The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday summoned two more Indian Railways employees and interrogated them in connection with the deadly train accident at Bahanaga.

As per reports, the CBI team interrogated them at Chandaka Police Station on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

While three staff have already been arrested and are on CBI remand, 3 more including the Station Master of Bahanaga Bazar station have been summoned and asked to appear for questioning.

The arrested railway staff, who have been booked under IPC sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) are; Senior Section Engineer (signal) Arun Kumar Mahanta, Section Engineer Mohammed Amir Khan, and Technician Pappu Kumar. They were all posted in Balasore.

The inquiry report of the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), South Eastern Circle had stated that the deadly train mishap at Bahanaga station in Odisha’s Balasore had occurred due to lapses in the signaling circuit alteration carried out at the North Signal Goomty (of the station) in the past.
