Odisha is all set to set up four technical committees for flood management, revival of rivers, and other critical issues in the state. The directions have been issued by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi after holding a review meeting with senior officials of the Water Resources Department.

The crucial meeting was held to review the preparedness of possible flood management during the current monsoon season. 

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has directed the departmental officials to take appropriate steps to strengthen all the weak river embankments, to remain alert during floods and to take necessary measures. 

Majhi also reviewed the ongoing work under various schemes of the Water Resources Department and directed them to complete the projects within the stipulated period.

The Committees will be constituted for the formulation of policies for better flood control and management, Mahanadi Rejuvenation and review of Rule Curve, formulation of water conservation policy
and for improvement of the river bed, periodic excavation and submission of reports within 100 days.
