Odisha to open control room to tackle water crisis during summer, issues to be resolved within 2 hours
In a proactive move to address drinking water issues during the summer months, the Odisha government will soon open a dedicated control room to monitor and resolve complaints, said Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra.
Speaking to the media, the minister said that any water-related complaint will be resolved within two hours of being received.
Plans are underway to build more barrages to enhance the usage of river water. Currently, only 17 percent of the available water is utilized, while the rest flows into the sea. The minister also informed that discussions have been held with OWSS, WATCO, and the Health Department to improve water distribution systems.
The government aims to provide 24x7 clean drinking water to every household in the state by 2027. Efforts will be intensified to conserve more water through barrages and ensure sustainable use.
“We are taking all measures to ensure there is no water scarcity anywhere in the State. If the need arises, we will deploy more tankers to supply water. A dedicated control room to address the water crisis will be opened and issues will be resolved within 2 to 3 hours of receiving the complaint,” said Mahapatra.
