Odisha to fill 3000 police posts in 100 days, over 2200 home guard recruitment announced

In a major development, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced the filling of 2,298 vacant home guard posts and 3,000 police posts within 100 days. The announcement was made during the Odisha Assembly debate on Home department grants. Majhi also extended compassionate appointments to families of home guards killed in duty and sanctioned new police outposts.

Odisha to fill 3000 police posts in 100 days, over 2200 home guard recruitment announced

In good news for job aspirants, the Odisha Chief Minister on Saturday lifted the ban on recruitment of home guards, which was in force from February 2020. Majhi also announced that at least 2,298 home guard posts that are lying vacant will be filled up as soon as possible.

He announced while replying to the debate on the demand for grants of the Home department in the Odisha Assembly. Apart from filling up vacant posts, he also announced the extension of compassionate appointment to home guards killed in the line of duty.

“A member of the family of a home guard killed in Naxal violence or in similar incidents will be provided a government job,” the CM said in the House on Saturday.

Apart from home guards, Majhi also declared to fill around 3000 vacant police posts in 100 days, apart from the creation of one police outpost each for 10 government medical colleges, one outpost at Baramunda bus terminal, and 9000 motorcycles for inspectors, sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors.

The Chief Minister also gave the nod to fill up 1083 posts in the newly-created Special Security Battalion posted to oversee security at Anand Bazaar in Puri and the sale of Mahaprasad.

Meanwhile, the Odisha Home Guard Association has welcomed the move of the state government and extended gratitude to Chief Minister Mohan Majhi for the historic decision.
