In an important decision, the Odisha Cabinet on Monday approved creation of 6025 new posts as leave and training reserve teachers in government Secondary Schools.

Presently, there are 40166 teachers employed in Secondary Schools in Odisha.

As per a government press release, “15 percentage of the total cadre strength of 40,166 of teachers which comes to 6025, will be created to meet the requirement of teachers' unavailability due to leave, training and on medical grounds.”

This recruitment is aimed to address the issue of shortage of teachers in Government secondary schools.

In another important development, the Odisha Cabinet gave its nod to establish 237 hostels for boys in Adarsha Vidyalayas across Odisha.

The government has set aside Rs 1000.14 Crore for setting up the hostels, making it roughly Rs 4.22 crore per hostel.

As per the govt statement, “The building will be of G+2 nature with all facilities ensuring comfortable stay and learning environment for students inside the campus. The plinth area of the Boys Hostel is approximately 6800 sqft and the floor area for first floor and 2nd floor area is 6300sqft and 4860 sqft respectively.”

“The current proposal will ensure quality learning infrastructure for achieving academic excellence,” the govt said.
