In a bid to boost the healthcare system in Odisha, state health minister Mukesh Mahaling on Sunday announced that appointment letters will be soon issued to over 250 radiographers.
In his statements, Mukesh Mahaling noted the role of radiographers in handling advancing technology that was crucial for handling health conditions like cancer.
“The government is planning to hand out appointment letters to radiographers at a soon-to-be-organized event. Combining advanced radiography technology and skills will greatly improve healthcare systems,” stated the minister.
The move aims to strengthen healthcare services ahead of the upcoming implementation of crucial statewide programs including the Centre’s flagship Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, AB-PMJAY.

Mahaling also noted that the health department was gearing up for a large-scale awareness campaign against cervical cancer.
The health minister also said that the government is planning to organize health camps in schools and colleges that will also facilitate vaccination drives. Such camps will provide free vaccinations to ensure accessibility for all.
He noted that the risk of developing cervical cancer is particularly high among female teenagers in India. Additionally, he stated that discussions were on at the central level to address this issue and spread awareness.
“State healthcare schemes like Gopabandhu Arogya Yojana will be taken up alongside the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Necessary allocations for the same have been done in the budget both at the central and state levels,” said Mahaling.
