AC helmets to help traffic constables beat the heat in Odisha soon!

After Gujarat and other states, the Commissionerate Police is now contemplating to procure Air Conditioned (AC) helmets to protect traffic constables from the scorching heat wave conditions.

The Commissionerate Police on Saturday conducted a trial run of the AC helmets on an experimental basis in Bhubaneswar.

Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda, “If feedback is good and the vendor can provide in quantity, we will implement it at the earliest. There is no issue of budget. We will use such helmets on experimental basis for the next 3-4 days. We will plan to procure these helmets in a phased manner after reviewing feedback, requirement and other aspects.”

Sanjay Joshi, vendor said, “Such helmets are being used in Gujarat, West Bengal and other some southern states. Such AC helmets can work even in 55 degree Celsius.”

Joshi said that the helmet can cool down the temperature by almost 15 degrees. The helmet can work for 8 hours after full charge of 6 hours, he added.

“The good thing about the AC helmet is that it is made in India and there is no problem in providing whatever quantity is required,” Joshi added.

A traffic constable said, “It is practically hard to work at traffic junction during the intense heat wave conditions. Such kind of gadgets will certainly help us a lot.”
