In a bizarre incident, the headmaster in-charge of Sujamaju High School under Dariginibadi block in Kandhamal district allegedly got married for the second time even as the divorce case with his first wife was pending.
The incident came to light after the purported photographs of the marriage that took place on the school premises surfaced on the internet.
In the photographs, the headmaster in-charge, identified as Sripati Nayak, along with another woman with ‘varmala’ can be seen cutting a cake in the storeroom of the school in the presence of other teachers.
Meanwhile, Nayak’s first wife Nirupama Dakua has lodged a complaint in this regard at Baliguda police station and questioned how a teacher can remarry on the school premises when the divorce case is still sub-judice.
According to sources, Nayak had married Nirupama in 2003 and they have a 12-year-old daughter.
“The headmaster of Sujamaju High School, Sripati Nayak is my husband. He has been physically and mentally torturing me for the last seven years. He had filed for divorce in a family court and later withdrew it,” Dakua said.
“My husband remarried another woman on February 6 and living with her at the storeroom of the school,” she alleged.
Meanwhile, Nayak refuted all the allegations levelled against him and said the photographs were taken during his birthday celebrations.
“The allegations are baseless. I have already filed for divorce and it is pending in court. The photographs which have gone viral are taken during my birthday celebrations. I threw a feast for the staff on my birthday after the school time,” Nayak said.
