Earning accolades for the country and the state, Odisha's para-athletics sensation, Suchitra Parida, added another star to her impressive career by securing a silver medal in the women's F55 javelin throw on Tuesday at the ongoing Paris 2025 World Para Athletics Grand Prix.

Competing at the renowned Charlety Stadium, Parida achieved a personal best of 17.98 meters, positioning herself as one of the world's leading athletes in her category.

A Stellar Performance on the Global Stage

The Paris Grand Prix, which began on June 2 and will continue till June 5, is a prestigious event in the para-athletics calendar, attracting top athletes from around the world.

Parida's silver medal performance came amidst stiff competition, with Mexico's Navarro H. MG clinching gold with a throw of 19.96 meters, setting a new American record. Another Mexican athlete, Salazar RA, took bronze with a personal best of 15.66 meters.

A Journey of Resilience and Triumph

Notably, Suchitra Parida's journey to the podium is a testament to her resilience and determination.

After losing mobility in a tragic accident at the age of 22, she turned to para-athletics, quickly rising through the ranks to become one of India's top performers in her category.

In 2025 alone, she has secured gold medals at the New Delhi World Para Athletics Grand Prix and the National Para Athletics Championship in Chennai, setting national records along the way, with her consistent performances earning her the World No. 2 ranking in the F55 category.
