Odisha student ends life after losing money in online games

A Plus 3 second year student from Guda area under Soro police limits in Balasore allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself after allegedly losing lakhs of rupees in online games.

The deceased has been identified as Uday Kumar Behera.

According to Uday's relatives, he was addicted to various online games and has lost lakhs of rupees.

On Wednesday, Uday's mother found him hanging in their house. He was immediately rushed to Soro hospital where doctor declared him dead on arrival, sources said.

“He was addicted to PUBG and Free Fire games. I lost my nephew due to online gaming. I request the government to take necessary steps so that no more life is lost,” said Sashikant Behera, uncle of the deceased.

Meanwhile, the Soro police has registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation into the matter.
