The cricketing fans across the globe are reacting sharply to the shocking ‘timed out’ dismissal of Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews during a World Cup match against Bangladesh on Monday.

Mathews became the first player in the cricket history to be out in this fashion after Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan made an appeal as the former failed to get ready to take strike within the stipulated time of two minutes. Mathews had some issues with his helmet which is said to have led to his shocking dismissal in the controversial matter.

The Odisha State Transport Authority (STA) has taken Angelo Mathews dismissal to create awareness among the commuters. In its official X handle, the STA tried to strike a chord with the commuters by trying to create awareness about the use of helmet.

STA wrote, “Road Safety lesion from World Cup 2023. Don't throw away your wicket, play a consistent long innings. Always wear ISI certified helmet & tie the strap. Also encourage pillion rider to do so.”

The STA said that be it on field or off field, safety is always first.
