Himansu Shekhar Rout

As mercury kept on rising on Sunday, most areas of the state sizzled under heat wave with temperature touching 39 degrees Celcius at 10 cities by the evening, according to the Bhubanewar regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). 

By 2.30 pm, Bhubaneswar was the hottest city with 39.6 degrees in Odisha, but mercury shot up to 40.5 degrees in Paralakemundi in the evening. It became the hottest city in Odisha. 

Paralakhennuuli was followed by Malkangiri with 39.9 degrees
