Odisha’s first modular OT complex inaugurated at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar

The modular OT, equipped with modern medical equipment, is capable of handling surgery of 10 patients at a time. The OT has been made as per a Korean model.

Odisha’s first modular operation theatre (OT) complex was opened at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the modular OT.

As per reports, the modular OT, equipped with modern medical equipment, is capable of handling surgery of 10 patients at a time. The OT has been made as per a Korean model. 

The single-storeyed OT Complex houses seven rooms of which five rooms have been dedicated to the modular OT. The other two rooms will be used for observation of patients post-surgery. 

The new facility will come in handy for Capital Hospital. It is said that henceforward, patients requiring some critical surgeries will not be referred to other hospitals. The new facility is expected to significantly reduce the number of referral cases in Capital Hospital.

As for the new facility, Laxmidhar Sahoo, director of Capital Hospital said, “All necessary facilities are there in the modular OT for doctors as well as patients. Five operation theatres are in the OT complex which can handle 10 operations simultaneously. Another prominent feature of the OT is that there are no chances of infection of patients inside the OT complex because a special technology has been used. The facility is expected to be most beneficial for the people of Bhubaneswar and Odisha as well.”

He also stated that doctors will work efficiently in the OT because of the latest technology.
