A 52-year-old banker from Odisha has been appointed as the new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bank of Baroda (BoB). 

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Debadatta Chand as the MD and CEO of Bank of Baroda (BoB). 

His appointment is for a period of three years with effect from the date of assumption of office on or after July 1, 2023 or until further orders, whichever is earlier, said a government release.

Sanjiv Chadha, the incumbent MD and CEO of BoB, is set to retire on June 30, 2023. 

Chand, who belongs to Bolangir district, is now serving as the Executive Director of BoB. He was appointed as Executive Director of Bank of Baroda and assumed charge on March 10, 2021.

He started his career in Allahabad Bank as Officer in 1994 and subsequently worked as Manager in Small Industries Development Bank of India [SIDBI] from 1998 to 2005. 

He joined Punjab National Bank in the year 2005 as Chief Manager, rose to the level of Chief General Manager. Prior to joining Bank of Baroda as an Executive Director, he was heading Mumbai Zone as CGM, PNB.   

As per his LinkedIn profile, Chand completed his Plus 2 in Science stream from Rajendra College, Bolangir and got a B.Tech degree from the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology. 

Later, he did Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management.
