Odisha Private School Owners’ Association observes state-wide strike
The All Odisha Private School Owners’ Association on Friday launched a state-wide strike to push for their four-point charter of demands.
With the Bolangir District Private School Owners’ Association also taking part in the strike, its impact was felt in the district. All the private schools across the district were shut. The agitating members of the association were seen picketing from the morning.
Later, they staged a demonstration in front of the office of the district education officer (DEO). The members said the government continues to neglect them even though they have been raising their demands on several occasions. If the demands are not met, they will stage a demonstration in front of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, they said.
“We have several unfulfilled demands like we are not getting free books and our schools are getting step-motherly treatment. To press for our demands, we observed a state-wide strike today,” said the president of Bolangir District Private School Owners’ Association, Rabi Chandra Udghata.
