Odisha Police on Saturday celebrated its 88th Formation Day with the Director General of Police (DGP) Sunil Bansal taking salute of the ceremonial parade held in Cuttack. According to Bansal, Odisha Police is capable of handling the new challenges that are emerging in the society.

Be it cyber crime or economic offences, Odisha Police is trying its best to tackle such menace apart from regular policing and crackdown on narcotics, he said.

“We are hopeful to serve the people of Odisha with dedication. Odisha Police is giving stress on modernisation which is an evolving process. Odisha Police has a rich history of service and sacrifices made by the personnel which is an inspiration for others,” said Bansal.

The DGP further said that there has been considerable improvement in the Maoist-situation in the state.

“There are several aspects to modernisation and steps are being taken in all directions. Our focus is to increase our efficiency in tandem with the latest technology. To tackle Cyber Crime, we are relying on moderinsation of existing labs and infrastructure and capacity building of personnel,” Bansal added.

The DGP also felicitated police officers and personnel for their remarkable contributions to the department on the occasion today.

Twin City Police Commissioner, Soumendra Priyadarshi attended the Formation Day celebrations in Bhubaneswar. Awards were handed over to 19 police officers on the occasion.

“Commissionerate Police is trying its best to provide citizen-centric friendly services and there is a need to increase our service delivery mechanism with a focus on crime control and other aspects,” said Priyadarshi.
