Odisha MLA conducts surprise night visit to police stations, hospitals; finds staff asleep on duty
Raghunathpalli MLA Durga Charan Tanti conducted a surprise night inspection of various police stations and medical facilities across the city on Tuesday to assess the quality of services being provided to the public during night hours.
The inspection, carried out late last night, aimed to evaluate whether officials on night duty were actively performing their responsibilities and whether common citizens were receiving timely assistance.
During his visit to police stations and hospitals in sectors 3, 7, 15, and 19, the MLA reportedly found widespread mismanagement and negligence. In several locations, on-duty staff were found asleep, raising serious concerns about accountability and public safety during night hours.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the situation, MLA Tanti stated that he would take up the matter with the state government to ensure stricter monitoring and improved night-time services in both police and health sectors.
The visit has triggered discussions around night duty protocols and the urgent need for administrative vigilance.
