Thousands of mid-day-meal (MDM)cooks united under the Odisha Madhyana Bhojan Pachika Sangh staged protests and launched a sit-in protest over their various demands at Lower PMG on Thursday. 

They demanded regularisation of their jobs and said that the government should recognize them as fourth-grade employees in the School and Mass Education department. They also demanded a monthly salary of Rs 26,000 and to raise their retirement age to 62.

Thousands of mid-day-meal (MDM) cooks across Odisha took out a huge rally, shouting slogans. They said that they find it difficult to manage their families with meagre consolidated salary, despite being engaged in multiple works. 

They also pressed for various government benefits.
